Aaron Elvis Jupin is a Southern California native raised in the suburbs of Orange County. His paintings and drawings focus on the idea of fleeting memory and change, questioning and commenting on the new familiar, natural disasters, and recurring fires. Using the language of cartoons and playing with the basic rules of photography and early animation to create depth, Jupin’s paintings reflect the mundane from an uneasy perspective. His work explores the dismantling of memory, rebranding symbols from American culture to communicate despair and loss. Jupin received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design and lives and works in Los Angeles.
